Blue Skies

I kind of jumped out of a plane a few weeks ago. Now I'm sorting of floating in the air figuring out where to land.  Perhaps inspired by my situation, I came up with this idea for Wylie's room.  We took a trip to a weird little party store in Berkeley and got these deep blue paper lanterns and some plastic paratrooper favors. I cut four 12" pieces of bakers twine for each lantern and attached them using a tiny hole punch and the base of the bottom opening, using different twine colors for each lantern. I cut the parachutes and strings from the figurines and tied the strings through the loop at the top of their heads.  They can hang at different lengths from the ceiling to look like they are coming in for a landing.

I am guilty of coveting things and then finally going to buy them only to find they are long gone.  It's the pits.  I still think about the Daisy Face wall tapestry from the limited release Alexander Girard collection at Urban Outfitters that was just no longer there.  The latest design dither tragedy to befall me was the Button Up pillow at CB2.  It's so simple and cute, and so unavailable*.  I couldn't get it out of my head, so decided to make a version of it myself. a

I've had a Star Wars kind of year.  Having made the choice to turn our house into Endor for an Ewok birthday party, I undertook the misguided task of designing and sewing 25 plush Ewok dolls, and a handful of light sabers that are now so beat up they look like limp noodles.  My best creation was the Yoda pillow that I made Jasper, I have to say that one was something (it's hard to make a pillow look like a 900 year old man).
